The Fraternal Chronicle ISSN: 3069-535X is a dedicated monthly print newspaper that celebrates the history, traditions, and modern activities of fraternal societies. From Masons to Odd Fellows, Druids to Eastern Star, and countless others, we shine a light on the organizations that have shaped a multitude of communities, fostered fellowship, and carried forward timeless values of charity, honor, and truth.

 

Whether you are a lifelong member of a fraternal order, a new initiate, or simply a curious reader, our mission is simple:

The Fraternal Chronicle was recently approached regarding the National Supreme Council of A.A.S.R., headquartered in Detroit, Michigan. Specifically, a Brother from a mainstream jurisdiction inquired about a social media post detailing the organization's 2026 National Convention, which is scheduled to take place in New Orle ans from July 29 to August 7. The Brother noted that after searching the official Scottish Rite Southern Jurisdiction (SJ) website, he could find no record of this event. We promised to investigate the matter, and this article outlines our findings. The National Supreme Coun cil (A.A.S.R. Masons) is historically associated with the National Compact. The Compact represented the first attempt to establish a unified national governing body for Black Masons in the United States. However, between 1860 and 1880, a major schism occurred between this national body and various state bodies. This division created two distinct lineages:
